Terms of Service
Minimal, straightforward terms.
1. License
Orbit is an open-source tool distributed under the MIT License. The official compiled binaries provided via our website are offered for convenience, but they do not change the underlying license of the codebase. You are free to use, modify, and redistribute Orbit according to the terms of the MIT License.
2. “As Is” Provision
The software is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. In no event shall the authors or copyright holders be liable for any claim, damages, or other liability, whether in an action of contract, tort, or otherwise, arising from, out of, or in connection with the software or the use or other dealings in the software.
3. Third-Party Services
Orbit facilitates interactions with third-party services including OpenAI (ChatGPT, Codex, OpenAI transcription, and GPT TTS). By using Orbit, you also agree to be bound by the respective Terms of Service of those providers. Orbit is not responsible for how those third parties handle your data beyond our own application runtime.
4. Your ChatGPT Subscription
Orbit requires a ChatGPT subscription to power its AI assistant features. You are responsible for maintaining your subscription and complying with OpenAI's usage policies. Orbit does not process payments or manage your subscription on your behalf.
5. Data and Privacy
Orbit collects no user data, includes no tracking or analytics, and stores no information on external servers. API keys are stored locally in the macOS Keychain. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.
6. Updates
Orbit does not auto-update. You choose when to download and install new versions. Your settings, preferences, and API keys (stored in Keychain) persist across updates.
